30th Annual Adams Street Fair 2011

This year I decided to get a booth at the Adams Street Fair in San Diego, CA.   I live a few blocks away from Adams Avenue and love attending the street fair.  There are always lots of interesting artists and booths to see.  So this year I decided to promote my plush business and have my own Arixystix Booth!

Everything went fantastic!  I had a great turnout and made some good money from the whole event.  I handed out dozens and dozens of business cards too!  A special thanks to my fiance and my parents for helping me out with the hauling of all the heavy things to and from my booth!  I couldn’t have done it without ya :)  Ok maybe I could have, but I sure appreciated all the help. ♥

I Love Getting ‘Fan E-Mail’

I don’t usually get much fan mail in my inbox at all, but I do on occasion get emails from people who have purchased my patterns in my Etsy store to show me their amazing creations!  Morgan  bought my PvZ sewing patterns and created these wonderful PvZ plushies as a birthday gift for her husband recently and even went the extra mile and created a Snow Pea and some Peas for the Peashooter’s to  shoot out!  I love seeing pictures of the creations my customers whip up with my patterns :)

New Dotwork Wing Tattoo

So I recently got a new tattoo that I am really excited about :D

I have known what I wanted to get for a while and decided to do some research on some local tattoo artists who could match the dotwork tattoo style I was looking for.  Luckily I was able to find someone in San Diego who was known for her dotwork and new tribal style work.  I met Gemma Pariente at Full Circle Tattoo in San Diego.

I love it :)  It is a wing-like tattoo and it reminds me that the sky is the limit.  I initially designed it myself based off of a tattoo I saw in a book called “Black Tattoo Art” but I was open to having Gemma take a stab at the design.   She ended up making a beautiful rendition of what I was looking for and I went ahead and got it done.  She had a lot of good ideas and I ended up choosing this one.

I highly recommend Full Circle Tattoo and their artists there.  Everyone was friendly and awesome and I will hopefully be going back to have another tattoo designed by Gemma in the future :)

Update 7-20-11

Hi All!

I have been away for a while now and unable to make any updates let alone make any arts.  One of the main reasons is because I had an accident in my kitchen with my hand and my hand lost O_O.  I am unable to use my hand and create awesome things for a little while :(

I just wanted to extend my gratitude to those of you who have had to have orders turned away or canceled due to my injury.  Thank you for your understanding and patience.  I also wanted to thank my friends and family for helping me in my speedy recovery :)

Hopefully I will be back at the crafting table soon!  Cheers until then!

Tumblr

I created another blog!  I will be posting pics from this blog on a new Tumblr blog to share with the Tumblr community.  If you have Tumblr,  follow me!

I also have a non-arixystix related Tumblr that I re-blog inspirational images I find around Tumblr.  Follow me there too if you like what you see :)

The Cielo Food, Art & Craft Fair 2011!

This was my first gig at a local craft/art fair ever!  My colleague from my old job invited me to the event in Rancho Santa Fe, CA to sell my plush creations!  I made a few sales and had a lot of fun being there and got lots of positive reactions from people :)  Also, thanks to all my friends who showed up to support me!  You guys rock!  Here are a couple pictures from the event.  Also, thanks Steve for helping me set up and hanging out with me while I was wheelin’ and dealin’.

Bug Illustrations

I’ve been working with a friend lately and have been making some art for a game.  I wanted to share these cute bugs and some animations I did :)  I’ll post a link to the game when it is ready.

And now some teeny tiny GIF animations:

Flower Animation Test

I was messing around in Photoshop and playing with the animation tab.  I figured out how to utilize layers to create animations.  Here is my WAHH flower.  This took me about 10 minutes to do, I am going to keep playing with this tool, it’s lots of fun!

Mini Moo Cards

I ordered me some Mini Moo Cards!  How very exciting!  I will be using these as my removable tags for my creations when applicable.  I think they turned out really nice!  Just wanted to share :)

I’m Now Officially My Own Boss!

That’s right everyone!  I’ve finally taken the leap and decided to quit my day job and pursue creating crafts full time!  I’m nervous and extremely excited for this next chapter in my life and hope that I can continue to create and learn and grow as an individual through my artistic creations.  Right now I am finishing up a TON of custom orders and will begin revamping my Etsy shop ASAP.  Stay tuned!
